Mike

Picture
Mike began competing in Triathlon in 1987, he competed regularly in all distances including the Iron Man until 2001. Mike has also overcome cancer and decided to make a come back in January of 2016. Mike competes in his age group (65-69 years old) and has recently competed in and won the Triathlon series at Kurnell.

Mike has been with Activempowerment for 4 years and regularly participates in our Lift for Life program (twice weekly senior's resistance training class), Mike has learnt different exercises and has noticed a significant improvement in his upper body strength, which he believes has majorly improved his swimming. Mike plans to continue exercising and competing as long as he can to remain healthy and take out the up and coming Triathlon World Championships.

Ruby

Ruby is an up and coming rower. Having being diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy, and legally blind at birth this hasnt stopped Ruby from competing in her chosen sport of Para Rowing. Ruby currently rows for her school and is a current member of Balmain Rowing Club's Para Rowing Squad. With lots of early mornings on the water plus weekly strength and conditioning training Ruby is hoping to be selected for the Australian Para-Olympic Rowing team for the 2020 Tokyo summer games. There sure is a long path of hard work for Ruby but she is up for the challenge.
